Last night posed a big challenge for me and my new lifestyle. As a devout Patriots fan, I decided to travel home to my parents’ house with J to watch the game with my family. Prior to heading home, my mom informed me that she’d be making a Costco run, so I informed her of my decision to go Paleo. She was very supportive (not to anyone’s surprise) and offered to purchase items that met paleo criteria. So, while J and me ate a 7 superfoods salad with herbed chicken, the rest of my family dined on a “take and bake pizza” from Costco.
There were a few moments where I was craving just one bite of the pizza or a tortilla chip with salsa. However, I’ve been feeling a natural high over the last few days since I’ve eradicated these exact foods from my diet. Luckily, J and I stuck together and visited home with no problems. Plus, the Pats won!!!!!
We’re really enjoying tooling around in the kitchen to make meals, as we’ve never been the type to cook consistently or well.
The first paleo meal my boyfriend and I have made together.
We’re still trying to learn the ropes of what is and what isn’t paleo, but we were more than satisfied with our first attempt. This is my second day without grain and I sure do miss eating bread! However, I’m looking forward to reclaiming my health after gaining 20 lbs. this year and feeling awful after every meal.
This morning, I made us a quick scrambled eggs with kale, as we needed to get on the road fast. I was concerned that leaving the house in the morning without eating would have led to a paleo breakdown.
Overall, I feel great and am looking forward to eating clean.
